SUMMER EVENTS

FAMILIES ON MISSION

This summer Wesley is offering a variety of activities where families attend together on a mission to learn holy habits AND create community. Families come in all sizes: parents with kids, empty nesters, singles, grandparents and littles. All are welcome! Sign up for one mission or many. Please note a designated adult MUST accompany children on activities.
The fee per person is $10. Bring a sack lunch/dinner and refillable water bottle. Bus transportation will be available for some activities.
  • June 20 - Drive your own vehicle or jump on the bus for a trip to Riverbanks Zoo to explore God's Creation.
  • June 27 - Lake Day at St. John UMC lake prperty to learn about the sacrament of baptism.
  • July 10 + 11 - Bring your work gloves for an overnight mission trip to Camp Collinswood in Buckhead, GA to paint, pressure wash and trim bushes. Best for students 3rd grade and older.
  • July 18 - USC Aiken Planetarium to explore the stars and how we are made in the image of God.
  • July 25 - An evening with a painting project and praise music at The Foundry in Augusta.
  • July 27 - Church-wide Green Jackets game with Pastor Greg throwing the first pitch!

Ambassadors training classes

Open to students 4th grade and older
  • Everything Tech - Join Mike Grigsby and his teach team to learn about stage lighting, sound, pro-presenter, video cameras and more. Sundays in June 12, 19, 26 from 5 to 7p.m. Cost: $30
  • Photography Essentials - Join Jen Miller to learn how to take photos for promotions and personal use. Bring a DSLR Sundays July 17, 24, 31 from 5 to 7p.m. Cost: $30

Outdoor adventures

Love the great outdoors? Then this group is for you! The third Saturday of the month we will meet up for an outdoor adventure. This summer, to beat the heat, we will explore God's creation together via kayak by tackling the Serene 18 Paddle Trail.
Don't have a kayak? Borrow one from the group or rent one from outfitter.
  • May 21 - Betty's Branch - Drop-off and pick-up from Riverside Park
  • June 18 - Stallings Island - Drop-off and pick-up from Savannah Rapids
  • July 16 - Augusta Canal - Drop-off at Savannah Rapids, Pick-up at Enterprise Mill Discovery
  • Aug. 20 - Dam Route - Drop-off at Dam Recreation Area, Pick-up at Riverside Park

Summer women's study

Wednesdays, June 1 through July 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Wesley, Room 30
All women are invited to follow the Apostle, John the Beloved, through his early walk with Jesus to his banishment to the Isle of Patmos in the five books of the Bible usually accredited to him - the Gospel of John; I,II,III John; and Revelation. There will be no videos or lesson books, and homework only if desired. Attend one, two, or all the classes - which ever meets your summer schedule. Classes are not tied to each other. The study will be led by Carol Gage. Please bring your Bible, a 3-ring notebook, and a desire to meet, study with women of all ages and experiences.

preschool 1/2 day camps

Sign up for a half day camp just for Preschool students! Each camp will have theme-based projects, playground time, a Bible story, and fun with friends. Bring a sack lunch and water bottle with students name for these Preschool camps. Cost $15.
  • Art Camp - Thursday, July 14 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. eric Carle projects will come alive through the hands of preschool students.
  • Dinosaur Camp - Thursday, July 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Using teacher resources from USC Aiken, we will explore the science of dinosaurs.

July sundays

Each Sunday in July we will add a little connection flair. Following the worship services, connect with the folks of Wesley and grab your Sunday treat.
